About CrewBuy
CrewBuy is a small, independent Australian site for group buys: an organiser finds a supplier with a minimum order, people commit to a share, and once the minimum is reached everyone gets the bulk price. It's new, and in beta while the first real buys run.
Who runs it
CrewBuy is run by Jackson in Brisbane, who wanted to save money by organising a group buy. To reach him, use Send feedback; it goes straight to him.
Your money
- You pay the organiser directly, by bank transfer or however their listing says. CrewBuy never holds your money.
- That also means CrewBuy can't refund you. If a buy is cancelled, everyone who paid is marked as needing a refund and the organiser is told to repay them, but the refund comes from the organiser.
- "Paid" on CrewBuy means the organiser has recorded your payment. Pressing "I've paid" only asks them to check.
- Joining a buy costs you nothing extra. The organiser pays CrewBuy $1.00 to list and $2.00 when they ask for payment (not charged yet during the beta).
What the rules protect
- Every listing shows its terms before you commit: when you pay, when you can leave, and what happens if costs change.
- Leaving is free until the organiser locks in the list, which they can only do with 48 hours' notice before the deadline.
- A price rise needs your yes. So do later costs well past what you were told; saying no means leaving with a full refund.
- Every change to a listing is recorded, and important ones are sent to everyone in the buy.
Organisers
- CrewBuy doesn't check who organisers are. An organiser's record (buys run, buys completed) is worked out from what has happened on the site, and can't be typed in. A buy counts as completed once it's closed, or 30 days after it ships with no delivery problem still open.
- People who paid in full can leave a short "got mine" note once the order ships. Notes show on the organiser's profile without the writer's name, and CrewBuy doesn't edit them.
- "Where I'm known" links are added by the organiser and CrewBuy hasn't checked them. Follow them, and ask in the thread you came from.
- You can ask an organiser questions privately before you commit.
- Something wrong with a listing? "Report it to CrewBuy" is at the bottom of every listing. CrewBuy can hide or take it down, and the organiser never learns who reported it.
What CrewBuy keeps about you
- The name you choose, your email and your password (stored scrambled, so nobody can read it).
- Your home region and a saved address, if you add them.
- The buys you join, what you've said you paid, and your messages with organisers.
Who sees it: other people never see your email or address. An organiser sees your name and address only once you're in their buy, and your email only once they ask for payment. Messages are just between you and the organiser.
There are no ads and no tracking: the only cookies are the ones that keep you logged in. The site and its database run in Sydney (on Vercel and Neon), listing photos are stored with Cloudflare, and emails are sent through Resend.
This is a plain summary, not the formal terms or privacy policy, which are still being written. To have your account and details removed, ask through Send feedback.
